1. Buddy Work
Buddy work is a simple strategy that allows students to work and problem-solve with a buddy. When the teacher has provided the basic instruction, it's helpful to split the class into pairs or groups to work on problems.
2. Math Games
Reinforcing the information learned in class is not always the easiest task for teachers, but math games provide the opportunity to make the lesson interesting and encourage students to remember the concepts. Games can be played in centers, on iPad's, and in other areas of the classroom.
3. Math Music
Students can make songs or raps as a way of remembering certain math problems, techniques, or definitions! This is a fun way to get their creative minds working and thinking about math. Students will then present their songs/raps to the rest of their classmates as a review.
4. Field Trips
Teachers could take their students anywhere for a field trip related to math! An excellent field trip that involves math would be taking the class to a baseball game! Students can keep track of batting averages and home-runs during the game, and then when we return to the classroom they can determine mean, mode, and range.
5. Whiteboards & Dry Erase Markers
This is a great strategy to teach math to students with. Students can try to figure out math problems that are on the board, and if they make a mistake, the dry erase markers make it easy to erase.
6. Math Bulletin Board
Each week, there will be a different math theme posted on one of the bulletin boards in the classroom. This will encourage students to be thinking about math more than one time a day! For example, one will be a Sudoku puzzle that students can fill in with the correct number in order to complete the puzzle!
7. Chalkboard Problem of the Day
Upon entering the classroom, there will be a math problem on the chalkboard! Students may think the problem is easy or hard, but they always must show their work on how they got their answer. At the end of the day, we will go over how each student solved the problem!
8. Technology
Multiple outlets of technology will be used in my classroom. The SmartBoard, iPads, and multiple math websites will be some forms of technology that students will be exposed to during the school year!
9. Math Manipulatives
An array of math manipulatives will be used in my classroom. Tangrams, GeoBoards, Counting Bears, and multiple other math manipulatives will be in the classroom for students to use during math lessons.
10. Math Puzzles
Math puzzles, such as addition and subtraction puzzles will be incorporated in my classroom. Students will be able to put these puzzles together by solving the math problem on the back of them. A different picture will form from each puzzle put together.
11. Math Ingredients
Students will be able to make recipes throughout the school year using their math skills. Students must measure and calculate the specific amount of each ingredient needed in order to create their baking masterpiece!
12. Math Song/Rap
Students can create their own song/rap using specific math terms that we have gone over during the school year. Students can present their song/rap to the class. This is a fun way to help students memorize math concept.
13. Flash Cards
Throughout the school year, students will be bale to construct their own math flash cards. This is a great way to help students memorize certain math concepts.
14. Escape Room
In order to effectively "escape the room", students must work together in teams and solve math problems. With each math problem solved, students will unlock a clue for the next math problem. Once all problems are solved correctly, students can escape the room.
15. Real Life Candy Land
The school gymnasium will be set up as a life-size Candy Land game board. In order to move throughout the game, students must answer math equations correctly!
16. Books about Math
Strong children's literature that focuses on math will be placed in my classroom. Students can read these fun, effective books focused on math concepts!
17. Flipped Classroom
I will participate in a "flipped classroom" during some parts of the school year. This is when students will go home with a new math concept and try to figure out the problem for homework. When they come back into the classroom, we will go over the concept and problem and figure it out correctly together!
18. Math Learning Centers
Throughout the school year, there will be numerous math learning centers set up in my classroom. With each new concept we learn, I will set up a new learning center for students to work on!

I will connect math concepts with art! Students will be able to use shapes, rules, Lego's, and many other art materials to create their own masterpiece centered around math!

Each student in my classroom will have a math journal. In this journal, they will cut, glue, write and solve different math concepts we are learning at that specific time. At the end of the school year, students will have an entire journal that is composed of numerous math materials they have learned!
